"Open Castles" Festival

Organized by the Region of Piedmont and the provinces of Cuneo, Alessandria and Asti, Castelli Aperti (“Open Castles”) is an initiative that from May to October opens to the public around 90 historical residences, from the snow-covered Alps to the rolling Langa and Monferrato hills to the fertile plains stretching towards the Po River.
The scheme covers a wide variety of buildings: castles and forts, palaces and villas, chapels and museums. These architectural jewels, from different centuries and in different styles, allow visitors to put together their own customized itinerary to help them explore these beautiful lands rich in history and culture. 
Through Castelli Aperti, the public has a chance to tour many privately owned historical residences which would otherwise be hard to access.
